What is Geoscience Industry

Economic activities based on or related to geoscience require information (input), services and professional geoscience consulting for study, planning, management, monitoring and supervision work such as mining and quarrying, exploration and processing of industrial minerals, land use planning, use and interpretation of remote sensing technology, environmental assessment and planning, geothermal energy management, groundwater management, preliminary and soil work in the construction industry, exploration and monitoring of oil and gas, underground storage, agricultural services, geotourism, geological disaster risk management and so on. The fields of geology are set out in the Jadual Kedua Akta Ahli Geologi 2008 (Akta 689 or as gazetted by the Board from time to time.

  • Represent and uphold Member’s interests in commercial and professional matters
  • Agree and publish guidelines on good practice and on ethical and professional matters
  • Encourage quality management systems in geoscience work
  • Assist and influence decision making within Clients’ organisations
Our Objective
  • To represent, promote, and advance geoscience technology and practices in consulting and geoscience services in Malaysia
  • To provide a forum for the exchange of views between geoscience consultants and geoscience service providers with the geoscience industry including government departments, research bodies, manufacturers, suppliers, and other consultants and contractors
